How to clean a ceramic hob without scratching it
Published on March 5, 2026

A ceramic hob is heat-resistant but sensitive to scratches, especially when the wrong products or tools are used in everyday cleaning.
The most important rule is to let the hob cool down completely before cleaning it. Cleaning it while still hot can burn the cleaning product onto the surface, making it harder to remove and increasing the risk of permanent marks.
For daily cleaning, a soft cloth or a non-abrasive sponge with a little dish soap is usually enough. Steel wool, abrasive sponges or cleaning products with particles should be avoided, as they are the main cause of visible scratches over time.
For burnt or stuck-on food residue, there is a specific scraper for ceramic hobs, with a retractable blade, which allows the residue to be removed while the hob is still slightly warm, without forcing or scratching the surface. It should always be used at a low angle, almost parallel to the hob.
After cleaning, a product specific to ceramic hobs helps create a protective film that makes the next clean easier and restores the surface's original shine.
If your ceramic hob has deep scratches, cracks, or has stopped heating properly in one of the zones, stop using it and request a technical assessment.
