How to clean a washing machine and remove bad odours
Published on August 17, 2026

Bad odours can be caused by moisture, detergent and softener residue, or dirt collecting in the door seal, drawer, filter and inside the machine.
Clean the accessible parts according to the appliance manual and run a maintenance cycle with the drum empty and a suitable product.
After washing, leave the door and detergent drawer slightly open for a while so moisture can escape. If the machine leaks, fails to drain, makes unusual noise or shows an error code, request a technical assessment.
