How to defrost a freezer and remove ice safely
Published on August 17, 2026

Move food to another freezer or a suitable cooler, switch the appliance off, unplug it and protect the floor from meltwater.
Leave the door open and allow the ice to soften. Never use knives, sharp tools, hair dryers or heaters to speed up defrosting.
Persistent ice in a No Frost appliance may indicate a problem with the door, seal, airflow or defrost system and should be assessed if it returns.
